R Marine Perth teaches safety at sea The success of R Marine Perth’s ‘Getting to know your Boat’ information evenings has prompted the Riviera dealer to host its fourth series which began this month. The first session on Onan Generators was held on August 18 at the Hillarys Yacht Club where guests heard from expert Tom Cull and his team from Cully’s Marine Technology. R Marine Perth dealer principal Brendon Grieve said, “Tom and his team took Riviera owners through basic care and maintenance including how to fault find, change a water pump impellor and basically get yourself out of predicaments.” The next event, titled ‘Safety at Sea’, will be held in conjunction with the Fremantle Volunteer Sea Rescue Group on August 23. Brendon said the Safety at Sea seminar was a must for inexperienced or nervous crew. “For some, boating is accompanied with a certain amount of intimidation. Ladies in particular often have concerns of what to do in case of an emergency, namely if their husband or partner is suddenly incapacitated and deemed unable to command the boat,” he said. “We have tailored a seminar to teach boat owners the three action steps to take in an emergency, plus participants will learn how to use a marine radio, child safety at sea, the secrets about personal flotation devices and taking command of the ship.” For the next event, please contact R Marine Perth on (08) 9339 8877.
