Yachting Experts helps children with cancer

Florida, USA:  Riviera dealer Yachting Experts has hosted a charity event in support of inspirational young cancer survivor Amanda Shoopman who has undergone 52 surgeries in her 14 years.

More than 200 Riviera enthusiasts dug deep to support children with cancer by donating toys to Amanda’s Angels.

Amanda’s Angels is the brainchild of young Amanda and aims to stock the toy closet at the Miami Children’s Hospital. 

“Amanda’s Angels hopes that by gifting a toy it will bring some comfort and normality to children as they are admitted to hospital for cancer treatment,” said Betty De Varona from Yachting Experts.

“This is the first charity event hosted by Yachting Experts and we were pleased with the level of support from Riviera enthusiasts including marine artist Carey Chen and Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Danys Baez.

“Yachting Experts chose to support Amanda’s Angels because of our relationship with the Dockmaster at the Cocoplum Yacht Club.  We hosted this event as a tribute to his daughter, Amanda, and felt it necessary to bring the community together for this event.”

Yachting Experts held a Holiday Party at the Cocoplum Yacht Club with a Cuban style pig roast, Paella, full bar and entertainment by Cache.

“The Cocoplum Yacht Club has held an annual holiday party for members and crew for the past 27 years, so it was an honour for Yachting Experts and Riviera Yachts to be a part of this 27 year tradition by sponsoring this event,” said Betty.

Captain Harris Shoopman said the event was a huge success.

“Hundreds of toys were collected, it’s beautiful to see the members of our community giving generously to help bring a smile to the faces of children with cancer,” he said.

The charity event was a huge success and Yachting Experts commends the work of Amanda’s Angels.
