Gold Coast, Australia: Riviera cabinet maker Drummond Johnson had the chance to experience his handy work when he and five friends enjoyed a day cruising around the Gold Coast’s pristine waterways on board a luxurious 4400 Sport Yacht.
Drummond was the lucky winner of a Riviera boat cruise, the major prize drawn at Riviera’s Spit Roast lunch which rewarded and thanked staff for their efforts in preparing for recent boat shows.
He said it was a nice surprise to win the boat cruise which he enjoyed with his girlfriend, Courtney, two sisters and their husbands.
“We met at Runaway Bay Marina where we were introduced to the skipper and the deckie before heading out around Sovereign Island and then up to Tipplers. We cruised back down through Surfers Paradise and did a canal cruise before anchoring at Crab Island,” Drummond said.
“We enjoyed a very nice lunch of prawns, a meat, salad and fruit platters courtesy of Riviera.
“I really enjoyed having the opportunity to experience a new boat, not as an employee of Riviera but from an owner’s perspective.
“Being on a Sport Yacht we had the windows and sunroof open which brought the outdoors in and it was just a really relaxing day. It was nice to escape the normal grind for a few hours with no worries.
“I can understand why our owners purchase our boats and why they enjoy them so much.”
Drummond said the boat cruise gave him the chance to show his girlfriend and sisters how the boats were built.
“I got to show them what my position at Riviera actually is and explain to them the variety of jobs within the company and what is involved in building a boat.
“My brother-in-law drives trucks so he was really interested in the specs so they stopped to let him have a look at the engine room, my brother-in-law was really impressed with how clean and well engineered the boat was.
“The boat cruise was really well organised, everything was spot on and totally catered for – it was a great day.”
