In Brief Riviera saves 144 lives Congratulations to all Riviera staff at the Coomera facility who donated blood this month to help save 144 lives. The Red Cross Blood Services mobile donor van regularly visits Riviera’s Coomera manufacturing facility where staff members generously donate blood. In previous years, Riviera has won the Red Cross Blood Services ‘Bloodislow Cup’ corporate challenge and is looking forward to defending their title this year.
Riviera’s 5800 Sport Yacht has the X-Factor Riviera’s stunning Euro styled 5800 Sport Yacht put on her best performance, cruising around one of the world’s most beautiful harbours when on national TV she showed more than 1.5 million people she has the X-FACTOR. Australian Idol winner and X-Factor judge Guy Sebastian chose the relaxed ambience and luxury of Riviera’s 5800 Sport Yacht to mentor his three groups before their live performance on Sunday, September 26. Each group received an individual pep talk from Guy and lunch onboard while the 5800 Sport Yacht cruised around Sydney Harbour. With three Volvo Penta IPS 600 diesel engines delivering 1,305 horsepower, the 5800 got Guy’s teams revved up and ready to bring on a powerful performance as they vye for the title of the X-Factor.
Riviera supports Rottnest Channel Swim Western Australia’s WAtoday Rottnest Channel Swim is dubbed the ‘world’s greatest open water swim’ with more than 20,000 competitors, supporters and spectators participating in the annual event. Sponsored by Riviera, the Rottnest Channel Swim has the largest participation for any distance open water swim in the world. Competitors swim about 19.7 kilometres of the Indian Ocean from Cottesloe Beach to Rottnest Island, with some swimmers taking about 10 hours to complete the challenge. Riviera will once again provide the support vessel and skipper for the Chief Referee, whose duty it is to manage a fleet of about 850 vessels, each with a swimmer, duo or team alongside as they make the crossing from Cottesloe Beach to Rottnest Island. Registrations to enter the 2011 WAtoday Rottnest Channel Swim on February 26, 2011 are open from November 1-7. Online registrations open 8am(WST) on November 1 and close at 5.30pm(WST) on November 7.
