Big catch at the Big 6 Tournament

The event sponsored by Riviera, the landmark Jumeirah Beach Hotel and Dubai's leading leisure yacht distributor ART Marine; the Big 6 Tournament attracted 74 anglers vying for first prize, a full day yacht charter.

Teams of five on board 15 boats including one Riviera, set out to test their skill in the Arabian Gulf while hoping to reel in the big catch.

For captain Abass Hassani and his team on board Vitamin Sea, it was an overall catch of 30kg of fish with five of the six species nominated which earned them the overall winner's title at the annual fishing tournament.

The competition was open to young and old, male and female with judging assessed on six categories of fish and each section winner awarded a prize.

Sharing the major prize winner's circle was the crew of Sea Prince, captained by Jihad Hassan, who landed a 13.4kg catch, making it the largest Kingfish caught on the day.

After a day of fishing in the beautiful waters around Dubai, all participants headed back to the Jumeirah Beach Hotel for a barbecue dinner and an awards ceremony.
