Life’s memorable moments

Riviera goes above and beyond creating luxury cruisers; it creates life-long memories and experiences for its valued owners.

We have heard from many Riviera owners who say owning a Riv has enriched their lives and increased their circle of friends.

From the late Judith Preen's touching story about how she just wanted to ‘go cruising' after being diagnosed with cancer, to Danny Dekker's memories and milestones during his family's 12 month voyage to the Whitsunday islands in North Queensland.

Whether it is watching a baby's first steps, reeling in and tagging a 1000kg Marlin or toasting nuptials as the sun sets; these treasured moments are what Riviera is all about - quality of life.

When Judith Preen was diagnosed with incurable cancer in 2006, the first thing she said was ‘let's go cruising'.

"I said if I've only got six to eight weeks (to live), I'm going to make the most of it because I have still got a lot to do," she said.

Judy and her husband, Bob, packed up their Riviera 39 and set off for a nine week cruise to the Whitsunday Islands in north Queensland.

Judy lost her battle with cancer on March 29, 2009 but she was touched by the level of support from fellow Riviera owners following the publication of a story about Judy's journey in a recent edition of the Riviera Magazine.

In 2007 Danny Dekker, his partner, Anne Neville and their son Daniel boarded their Riviera 39 Platinum 2000 model, Serenity, and began a 12 month voyage to the Whitsundays.

"Nothing could be better than being 20 metres out on the reef catching coral trout all day, cooking it on the barbecue and sitting back with a beer watching the sunset while Daniel had his bath on the back deck - those memories will be with us forever."

Carolyn Williams recalls the year she won the state and club champion lady angler titles, it was the same year her Riviera 42, Boardroom, tagged 29 marlin and seven yellowfin tuna in competition titles.

Mrs Williams describes the thrill of hooking a marlin as the ultimate challenge.
