Riviera’s 3600 Sport Yacht Series II features Volvo Penta IPS

Riviera has unveiled the latest of its European-style Sport Yacht series with an updated version of the model that began the revolution – the 3600 Sport Yacht.

This new Riviera 3600 Sport Yacht has undergone a major revision with the introduction of Volvo Penta IPS propulsion, giving the Riviera designers an opportunity to revisit and redesign the accommodation space on board the boat.

Internally, the major change is the larger aft cabin that runs across the full beam of the boat, similar to its cousins, the 4400 Sport Yacht and, more recently, the 43 Offshore Express.

Externally, the most striking change is bonded glass windows each side of the hull that add natural light into the full beam aft cabin.

This two cabin/one bathroom cruiser exudes style and is packed with all the modern conveniences you would expect from a Riviera, making it the ultimate in lifestyle-orientated vessels.

The indoor-outdoor character and sense of light and space introduced on this model is retained as is the single-level living space.

Another significant change offers more flexibility in the cockpit. The standard layout is an open cockpit with room to set up a table and casual folding chairs. Optionally, a lounge runs across the transom behind a folding teak table with high/low pedestal to convert to a sun lounge.

A large hatch in the cockpit floor opens on an electric actuator to provide access to the engine room. A smaller hatch close to the forward glass bulkhead offers access for routine maintenance.

In the saloon, an aft galley is complete with electric cooktop, microwave oven and under-bench refrigerator with freezer compartment. The saloon includes a pop-up LCD TV forward with DVD/CD player and stereo radio.

The 3600 Sport Yacht employs two revolutionary Volvo Penta IPS 400 diesel engines rated at 301hp each. The Volvo Penta IPS system is an integrated system of marine diesel engines and steerable drive units mounted under the hull with twin counter rotating, forward facing propellers. This system offers easy handling and manoeuvring even in tight situations and a joystick for easy docking. Volvo Penta IPS also offers up to 30 per cent better fuel consumption than traditional shaft drive systems.

Total fuel capacity of the Riviera 3600 Sport Yacht Series II is 800 litres (212 US gallons) and water capacity is 390 litres (103 US gallons).
