Revolutionary New Riviera Set To Star At Sanctuary Cove Show

The team at Riviera is particularly excited about the opening of the 2009 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show. Because it means the moment when the boating world first sees the revolutionary new 5800 Sport Yacht.

The Riviera 5800 Sport Yacht is a sleek four cabin model that takes the company’s designs to a new level of quality and style. It is powered by triple Volvo Penta IPS drive systems delivering a new level of quiet efficiency.

The Riviera 5800SY will be the centrepiece of the largest on-water display at the Show, covering nearly 4,000 square metres and encompassing a comprehensive range of Riviera Open and Enclosed Flybridge models, the 43 and 48 Offshore Express sport utility vessels and the complete range of Sport Yachts, including the new Riviera 3600 Sport Yacht Series II with twin Volvo Penta IPS drives.

The Riviera 5800 Sport Yacht inherits the design principles of its predecessors – the award-winning 3600, 4700 and 4400 Sport Yachts – most notably the al fresco lifestyle concept. A huge, push-button electric sunroof slides open to bring the outdoors inside, adding to the light, airy feeling of the spacious interior. In open mode, space flows freely between cockpit and saloon.

The galley features quality appliances throughout, including a three-element induction cooktop, two drawer fridges and two drawer freezers, and a liquor cabinet next to an icemaker. Audio-visual entertainment comprises an electric-lift 40" LCD TV integrated with a Bose AM/FM stereo, DVD player, sub-woofer and five speakers to the saloon. Air-conditioning is standard to the saloon and galley areas.

With options of three or four cabins, plus the addition of optional crew quarters, the Riviera 5800 Sport Yacht is designed for comfort. The master stateroom aft spans the full beam and features a king-size walk-around double bed amidships with en suite.

The companionway leads to the VIP guest stateroom forward, with its queen island double bed and en-suite, plus twin cabins on port and starboard sides. The starboard cabin easily converts from twin berth to a double. The port side cabin features two bunks. This cabin is replaced by the galley in the below deck galley layout option. A third bathroom is available to serve the twin cabins.

The other new model, the 3600 Sport Yacht with twin IPS systems, has undergone a major revision with the introduction of Volvo Penta IPS propulsion, giving the Riviera designers an opportunity to revisit and redesign the accommodation space on board the boat.

Internally, the major change is the larger aft cabin that runs across the full beam of the boat, similar to its cousins, the 4400 Sport Yacht and, more recently, the 43 Offshore Express.

Externally, the most striking change is bonded glass windows each side of the hull that add natural light into the aft cabin.

This two cabin/one bathroom cruiser exudes style and is packed with all the modern conveniences you would expect from a Riviera, making it the ultimate in lifestyle-orientated vessels.

Riviera’s Director of Global Sales and Marketing, Tim Sayer, said the display will offer luxury models for a wide range of boating needs.

“We are very excited about the new Riviera 5800 Sport Yacht. Already the company has taken orders for eight of this amazing new boat and I am sure the launch will generate even stronger interest.”
