Riviera recently hosted the annual Starlight Children's Foundation "Escape Day" at the company’s headquarters in south-east Queensland.
The Starlight Children’s Foundation delivers innovative programs that brighten the lives of seriously ill and hospitalised children and their families. Starlight services across Australia are designed to make children happy and lift their spirits when they need it most. Programs are delivered both in and out of hospital, providing positive distraction to children in their time of need.
Riviera Events Manager Phil Shaw said: “We were able to host 27 children and 20 parents and carers for a fabulous day of entertainment, including boat rides aboard a luxury 48-foot Riviera, rides on a trike, a jumping castle, face painting and even a magician to add excitement and wonder!”
The children also had the opportunity to learn about and get close to a number of Australian reptiles including a saltwater crocodile and a large python snake with their handler Brian McClean from local business Crocodiles And Dragons.
“The children’s medical and emotional needs may be complex, but their biggest challenge can be to simply feel ‘normal’ and enjoy ‘normal’ childhood experiences,” said Phil Shaw. “Riviera is privileged to provide this small distraction for them and their parents.”
Staff at Riviera’s R Restaurant provided morning tea and lunch during the day’s activities.
